Matt Simmons of Smiling Gator Productions shares some insights into the company's closure and the cancellation of Twilight War.As RPG Vault's readers may have noticed, as of December 31, 2005, Smiling Gator has shut down development operations and discontinued work on our debut project, Twilight War: After the Fall. As we briefly explained in a post to our website, our committed funds ran out and we were not able to secure additional investment.
Smiling Gator has been in existence for just over two years, with much of the initial time spent on evaluating base technologies for development and prototyping key elements of the Twilight War platform, after we selected Valve's Source engine in September 2004. The search for additional investors to complete the game began in earnest just prior to E3 2005. Along the way, we learned some valuable lessons that, of course, we wish we'd known from the start!
