--== TIPS ==--

-100 Gold for a Stick (submitted by S. Knauber)
I went to the outfitter in Britain, and wanted to buy a torch. I bought a few, and then tried to sell them back, one by one, to him. Well, every time I sold him back a torch (for which he pays you one buck), a pile of gold appeared next to me. Turns out, each pile has 100 gold pieces in it! There you have it, a quick and easy way to make a lot of money fast :).

-Wacky Birdie (submitted by Sean Colbert)
Just a cute touch the programmers added in. Between Shamino and the Shrine of Compassion, when you're next to the cave with the bats, look west. there's a stump on the hill where a bird is nesting. Climb up and look closer, there are three black pearl sitting in the nest like eggs. The bird will fly away, then come back and sit on the pearls before flying away again... The coordinates are 14 degrees, 43' S by 24 degrees, 49' E

-Secret Trapdoor (submitted by Delman Dragon)
In the magic shop in Britian (the one belonging to the wizard that you rescued from Covetous), there is a trapdoor right of the display case that is behind of the wizard guy.

-The Ghost Ship
Around midnight, if you hang out near the docks, a ghost ship will appear. I think this is the ship associated with the ghost you meet in Buc's Den. The ghosts talk to themselves but you cannot interact with them. You can enter the ship and look around; but nothing there. I actually sat inside the cargo hold and waited for 1 1/2 hours to see if the ship would take off somewhere and reveal a secret in the game. But as morning came, the game crashed because it isn't supposed to be there.

-Where is the Shrine of Compassion?
Head to the east gate bridge. Continue east, off the beaten path, up the mountain. The shrine is just past Shamino, the talking statue. *hint* the area around the shrine gets dark and stormy as you approach it.

-Coming from Valoria
Go to LB's castle and speak to the man in the green shirt at the entrance to his throne. He will give you a note from LB.

-Coming from Terfin, how do I get to Yew?
After you arrive from you're first "forced" visit in Terfin. Speak to lord British in Britain. He will remove a force field blocking the entrance to a cave. Take the road that leads southwest from Britain. You will come to a fork, take the road that is not marked. There is a sign tha says Paws and Britain here. This will take you North and through a valley. There is a cave that goes through the mountains... Go to the end of the cave, head west (look at your commpass and your map) to end of road, then follow the road North to Yew (1).

-Where are the secrets in the castle?
When you go in the castle (1), go to the room that has the Knight wearing the red and white suit. Go to the case on the wall with the shield, look to your left and right..You will see rectangular outlines. Be sure to look carefully. Go up to it, click on it, they're are secret passages that lead to the barracks. There are 2 in the kitchen that leads to some gold
and another in the weapons room.

-Smith (the talking horse)

"Okay, the woman in Wrong says Smith is in a tree near Britain. I don't see him. Everywhere I've asked says go back and talk to her again, she'll explain all. But I let her out, she's not there now! *sob* Can anyone tell me where he is, where she is, or what she says???"

-Lost and Sad!

Finding 'Smith' is easy. Head to the southwest gate of Britain and go west. About a few paces, you should see him hanging. He's dead.

Apparently, finding Smith is easy only when you don't pay attention to the information you are given. There are two big problems with this answer: The horse this answer points to is just outside of Britain, NOT 'just outside of Paws' and he is hanging from a post, NOT 'In a tree' as the woman says. If you want to find Smith, look to the left of the large stand of trees as you cross the troll bridge into Paws. There, on the outskirts of Paws and hanging from a tree, is the real Smith.

-Toccatta

-How do you buy and sell? I have tried clicking on everything I can think of, but nothing happens.
Click on the little "+" signs next to each item. Then click on the round red thing on the bottom left to "ok" the trade.

-Mayor's House
It's Southwest (3) of the castle.

-Getting the Ankh.
Talk to the girl at the harpsicord in Lord British's throne room (1). Get the notes to the Stones melody from her. In Lord British's bedroom.. put the notes on the harpsicord and click on it. The sandalwood box will turn into the ankh. This can only be done after you visit Shamino in Trinsic.

-How do I inscribe scrolls in my spell book?
You can't in the beginning of the game. It has to do with the deteriorated condition of the Shrine of Compassion. Fix the shrine and you will be able to bind spells.

-Avatar Impersonator
At the beginning of the game, before you cleanse the Shrine of Compassion, Evidious, an Avatar impersonator hangs out in a shack behind the museum. Later in the game, you can find him at the ruins near the Shamino statue near the Shrine of Compassion. Turn left at the statue and head on down to the path to the ruins. Evidious should be there with the goat.

-I've got the Glyph and Heart of Compassion but I cannot seem to find Raven anywhere.
You need to turn the Glyph of compassion into the Sigil of Compassion. Place The Glyph and the Heart in on top the center stone at the Shrine, Click on the shrine stone, type 'mu'. Grab the Sigil and the Glyph, talk to Lord British at the castle, and meet Raven at the docks.

-Scrolls on the Roof
From the Magic Lab in British's Castle, go to the balcony and make a right, jump up on the roof and follow it to the top, there is a scroll there.

-Mana Boost
If you have a couple bottles of Serpentwyne taking up space in your backpack. Give one to the beggar by the docks. It increases your mana potiental by 1, for each bottle.

-Ok, I fixed the shrine of compassion.. How do I bind spells?
I'm guessing you got a scroll of light (in lor) and 1 peice of sulfurous ash. Go to the Shrine of Compassion... there is a path just outside the circle of stone. There is a pentagram there. Drop the light scroll in the center of the pentagram, drop one peice of Sulfurous ash, light all the candles with your linear fire spell. You will be prompted to say the magic incantation. "In Lor"

-Bags... where can I find them?
In Despise (13), by a waterfall deep in the dungeon( "Wurmguard", in the water is a lever... hard to see. A rock opens up next to the waterfall... walla! Bag and a Kiran Stone.

-Serpentwyne in Britain? (23)
Go to the southwest gate leaving Britain. When you get there, head south to the beach.. at the beach, go east along the beach. The bottle is in the sand. Give the bottle to Flann, the woman in front of the Cathedral of Love.

"I found a bottle of Serpentwyne in the sand on the beach just west of the Britain Lighthouse. You go through Britain's East gate (11) and hang a right (south) at the crossroads. The lighthouse (and the moongate) are at the end of the path. On the way back to the crossroads, check out the spider's cave on the west side of the path. There's some spider silk in there and a polished diamond worth 600 gold."

-Erinnyes Dragon

-Secret Longbow.
There is a silver key upstairs at the weapons sellers house (23) (on the south side). That will open the chest there, You will get a copper key.. It opens the chest downstairs where the bower is. You'll find a longbow in the chest.

-I've got the Glyph of Compassion but the shrine tells me to go to the Mayor of Britian, but I have no options to ask him about it. Is this a bug?
Go to Paws. Take the road on the southwest of town and continue west. You will meet the mayor there. After getting the Heart of Compassion, cleanse the shrine and talk to Lord British. Raven will meet you at the docks when you're done.

-Where do I find the mantra of compassion.
Sarah (11), the keeper of the Shrine of Compassion knows. The mantra is "mu", You need to place the Glyph and the Sigil of compassion on top of the center stones at the shrine.

-Lord Brinne's grave.
Its behind the abandoned house (23)near the graveyard in britain. Lord Brinne was a real person who frequented the Ultima discussion groups.

-Cathedral of Love (17)
One key is on the table with the alchemy set, the other is in one of the four rooms, hidden under a trap door. You open the trap door by a switch an onther room there. That key opens a chest with serpent venom.

-A glass sword.
Find a well (16) next to a bench... there are some coins on the bench. Drop a coint into the well...

-Scroll of Ethereal Sight
The scroll is in Aidon the Mayor's house (3). There is a tapestry on the wall. Click on the tapestry and you'll find a secret room. Inside the room is the scroll. HINT: save before getting the scroll, then use it. You'll see a scroll on the bookshelf that wasn't there before.

-Political Scandal at the Mayor's House (subquest)
After yoiu cleanse the Shrine of Compassion, speak to Kimberly at the Cathedral of Love (17). She tell you about Killian, the Mayor's assistant, and her charity funds. Killian took the money, and hasn't returned it.

After talking to Kimberly, go to the Mayor's house (3) and speak to Killian. He will deny stole the money.

Behind you, on the west wall, the large tapestry is hiding Killians secret room. You can click through the tapestry to open the door.

Inside his secret room, read the journal on the desk. There is a scroll of Ethereal Sight on a smaller table. Cast the scroll, turn around, and look at the desk again. You should see a scroll that wasn't there before. Read it! It's a note from Blackthorn to Killian. Take the note, put it in your beltpack, and go speak to Killian again.

Confront him about the note you found. He will deny it again. While he's stumbling around for an explaination, the Guardian's voice enters the scene, and kills Killian, for disloyalty.

At this point, if you speak to Kimberly, she still doesn't have access to her funds. Go speak to Aidon, the Mayor. He is in his house (3), if not, in Paws..

First of all, you will be unable to get the quest about the political scandal in britain, where you are supposed to take out the mayors assistent BEFORE you have freed the serpent! the serpent MUST have been set free before she will tell about the assistants deed and the stolen money.

-Claus Joerstad aka "Snowballs"

-Flaming Sword
