GameSpy has tossed up the latest Divine Divinity developer diary which has once again been written by Larian Studios' CEO Swen "Lar" Vincke. It is very entertaining to "listen" to Swen detailing the circumstances responsible for Divinity's delay (currently slated for a Q2/2002 release) and in case you've never heard of the legendary "tale of being too ambitious" here's your once in a lifetime chance for adding that one to your educational background. A must read.

Here's a snip:

Whenever anyone asks me "How's development going?" I have two standard replies. The first one always involves the words "nightmare" and "never-ending." Something like, "Oh man, it's a total nightmare -- I don't know how we'll ever finish this. It really seems like this project is never-ending. If only I'd known, I would've never started on it, but the initial design was so cool and…" I guess you catch my drift. If after that litany the questioner doesn't have the wits to stop asking me about this particular topic, I degrade into a kind of techno-babble that only my dog understands, which was developed purely for the purpose for stopping people from bothering me. I don't like being reminded about the fact that it's late.
