Thanks to Jonathan J. Smith from Gaming Invasion for letting us know that they have a Morrowind: Tribunal interview with a Bethesda Designer, Mark Nelson, up on their site.
Here's an interesting bit:With all the downloadable plug-ins still being released for Morrowind, what would you say to people to convince them that Tribunal is a worthy purchase? What sets it apart from all the plug-ins and user created dungeons?
Certainly one of the questions we asked ourselves at the start of the Tribunal design was, "What can we provide the players that they can't create themselves?" The Morrowind mod community has set an incredibly high standard for us: they did some things with the Contruction Set that we had never even considered, so we had to find more innovative ways to improve on the game. The new map and journal functionality stands out here, as well as the new types of quest functionality. We've also created new architecture, weapons, armor, creatures, content, etc. It all adds up to a huge addition to the game. I believe that what we've created is a truly epic adventure--something of a scale that the average modder couldn't accomplish. The fact is, we have a large team of professionals dedicated only to working on this expansion for months...the average modder is distracted by things like actually having a life. It gives us a little edge. |
