I never quite understood why people with incredible powers need to dress up in silly costumes - but hey, Superman in Bermudas would not be Superman, I think. Anyhow: IGN has written a preview of City of Heroes, the superhero MMORPG currently under development. It comes from E3. Here's an excerpt:
As we entered Paragon City, we were told that we were starting in a City Zone. The city zones are relatively safe areas where heroes can patrol to find crimes in progress, like muggings or bank robberies, and try to foil them. They can also find non-player characters, called Contacts, which will give out various tasks. These can be people like police commissioners or news editors and the players will get to know what is going on these individuals' lives as they receive and complete various missions for them. If you get to know some contacts well, they might even call you up and leave you a message about a situation they need help with. In the city zone, you'll find pedestrians and traffic and all the things you would expect to see, as people go about their business. The other type of zone, the Hazard Zone, is dangerous from the moment a player enters it and is filled with villains. |
