A strange game design: A rather beautifully rendered 3D city and some landscape to run around in, first person style. But no NPCs or monsters there. Events were shown through text boxes, and fights switched the interface to a isometric perspective and combat was then turn-based and a lot less impressive to look at. Despite this weirdness it was quite fun to play, the fights were quite exciting and the story progressed nicely. |

the game engine looks a bit old and unpolished, but gameplay is fun and interesting - you have to shrink to bug-size sometimes - it's fun :) |

Oh.. Realms of Arkania.. This game, along with the first two parts, is one of my all-time favorites. Granted, it has its flaws, like missing NPCs, _but_ it has a very dense and _extraordinary_ atmosphere. Wonderful music, a linear but gripping story, a character system that feels, in my opinion, much better than AD&D, and most of all, a very believable, medieval world.
It's not like the.. colorful and stylised realms of the Forgotten World, but rather more realistic and grittier, with IMHO more _real_ magic. I'd rate it 10, but that will be left for Star Trail, which was the best part of the trilogy. |

Good story , gameworld, graphic, atmosphere, NPCs and music, but too linear and short. It's predecessor Star Trail is better. |

Not nearly as good as the others in the series. Too short, too linear, and very disappointing ending in which you're stripped of all the armor and weapons you've aquired through the whole game and shrunk to the size of a bug. Huhh???? |

True old school role playing game. Round based combat, big character and skill system. Storytelling is fantastic and creates a thrilling atomosphere as you wander through the foggy streets of Riva. The soundtrack on CD is simply stunning. IMO, this is a classic. |

I think, you must be a fan of the tabletop-game ... but then, it's a great game where everthing fits into description of Riva and the the end of the ork-wars and the return of Borbarad. |

Arkania rules. The hardest of the hardcore RPGs. Tons of stats and this one looked great. True I would have prefered a bigger map, like the previous 2, but they crammed a lot into Riva and its surroundings. The best combat system for a 3D RPG ever, this is how combat should be in all games. |

Yes the city setting was dissapointing after the huge maps of the first two, but this game is much better than it is given credit for, and as I've said before, the combat system is a wonderful idea in a first person game. |
