Two Priest interviews to report about: One at Gamespimptalks to Jason Kim from JCE, and this is a snip for you:
Q: In what ways will characters be able to customize their appearance?

A:Characters can customize their appearance from the start of the game. There will be more opportunities to customize as the game progresses and characters level up. The reason for this is because characters need to acquire the ability to use a particular item or body part (in the case of the Heretics). Also, there is a certain degree of honor or recognition that comes with being a high level character. When a low level Templar sees a menacing Heretic, he’ll know for sure that that character is a force to be reckoned with and consequently, will want to avoid taking him on 1 on 1.
Then there is a Priest interview at Gamer's Pulse, and they talk to "The Development team". Once again, we serve you an excerpt:
GP: What are some of the features in Priest that stand out the most to you and why?

A: If there’s one thing that makes Priest really cool is how a user can customize his character. A player can customize the path of specialization of his character by choosing which attribute (strength, intelligence, etc) to level up. This allows users to have a wide array of capabilities in battle and makes the fighting experience that much more interesting.

Also characters get to change the appearance of their characters. This is done simply through buying or picking up items and clothes and also through levelling up. As characters level up, they get more options as to how they can look. Templars get cooler clothing options, wear badges and items that indicate their high level or prowess in the battlefield. Heretics get to add more body parts to their body to make them look truly menacing. In addition, they too will have omens that indicate their level of power.
