A new City of Heroes Dev Diary has been posted at RPGVault. This time, Lead Designer Rick Dakan talks about how City of Heroes might please the casual MMORPG player who doesn't devote all his time to the game. Here's a snip:
The first element of our nefarious plan is our mission system. Basically, individuals or teams of heroes go to a Hero Organization and request a mission. That mission is an interesting mix of pre-generated content and adjustable elements that tailor the mission to the participating heroes. Thus, you get a unique mission that is specifically designed to challenge you. Only you and your teammates can go on the mission, thereby saving you from the worries of kill-stealing or camping. An average mission, including traveling to the mission location, should take somewhere around a half hour to 45 minutes. No coincidence that this is my idea of a good, healthy bite. You can log on, hook up with some friends and have a complete gaming experience in under an hour. If you want more, you can go get another, different mission and have a new, exciting bite o' fun. |
