A new team comment was posted at the official site for Star Wars: Galaxies. Programmer Steve Jakab talks about himself:
My first program was written in assembly on an Odyssey2 video game. You could type in a message an the program would scroll it across the screen. It wasn't much of a program, but the Odyssey2 wasn't much of a console. My first real game was written while I was in High School, written in BASIC for a DEC mainframe, and this was in the days when every line had to be numbered. It was a strategy game based on the... oh, wait, I'm probably not supposed to mention that other science fiction universe here. Lets just say the initials are S.T. My parents eventually bought me an Apple II. The first game I ever played on it was "The Prisoner", based on the best T.V. series ever made, and soon after that I discovered the "Wizardy" and "Ultima" series. I never actually wrote a complete game for the Apple, but I created some tools that would allow you to design mazes similar to "Wizardy" and tiled terrain similar to "Ultima". |
