The original Spellforce wasn't what we'd call a resounding success. The deep use of RPG elements in a RTS was a welcome concept, but it just didn't come together that well. It was a jack of all trades, but not really very good at any. It had some pretty stunning graphics and an original concept, but it left a lot to be desired. Well, someone was actually listening to all the bitchery that got unloaded on the first game -- with Spellforce 2 we might yet be getting the game we were hoping for.
