This is just a little roundup of Warlords Battlecry 2 reviews: The Entertainment Depot rated the game 7.5/10 and came to this conclusion:
Aesthetics aside, the gameplay is really where Warlords: Battlecry II shines. With a large amount of races, there is bound to be at least one, if not two, that players can get comfortable with, so if a certain group is at the short end of the balancing stick, they can compensate with another. The hero and RPG aspects are also fantastic, along with the various quests, challenges, laundry list of available troop options, and the ability to carry over soldiers – it all leads to a very rewarding experience. Despite the lack of a solid story, some balancing issues, and the dated look, there is just as much brought to the table to compensate for the shortcomings; sure, there are flaws, but there is just as much -- if not more -- fun to be had here as well.
Next in the line is Gamitopia with a rating of 79% and these final thoughts:
Warlords Battlecry II makes some good improvements over the original, making it a worthy game, but it doesn't advance to anything new. As well, the lack of story in the single-player mode is a disappointment to me. Aside from this, the game is generally fun to play, so if you're looking for some more action in the Warlords Battlecry series, then look into this title.
Last, but not least, you can find a review at Firing Squad, giving the game a 79% rating, too. Their conclusion:
Who would I recommend this game to? Fans of the Warlords series will definitely like this - it’s better than the first Battlecry. It’s not turn-based like the old Warlords games, but it keeps true to the franchise. If you like RTS games with a lot of different races, and you like an RPG-like hero that you use in every battle, you may like Battlecry II as well. If you happen to get your hands on it, definitely check out the technical achievements, like the strong AI, great pathfinding, and intelligent building management.
