There is a preview of City of Heroes, the upcoming superhero MMORPG. Your usual snippet follows here:
As can be guessed from the sound of the hazard zones, the game will be split into zones, similar to Everquest, as opposed to the seamless world of (for example) Mythic's Dark Age of Camelot. One interesting aspect of those zones was the vertical plane, given the prevalence of flight in superhero mythology. Would heroes who can't fly be at a disadvantage? Emmert responded: "Choosing flight means that a hero will have one less power slot available; so while a hero might be able to fly, he won't be able to have another power. In some cases, flight will be very useful, but it won't ever be a necessary component for missions. There will also be various items available to heroes that might allow them to duplicate (for a short time) the various super movement powers. So even if a hero can't fly with a power, he might still get to know what's it's like!" |
