Thanks to Tor-Steinar Tangedal, Editor-in-Chief at Norwegian Gamer.no for letting us know that they have recently had the opportunity to sit down with Bethesda's Todd Howard for an interview on his company's highly acclaimed 3rd Elder Scrolls installment a.k.a Morrowind. The interview is in English and it does not only offer an excellent retrospective look at the development of the game but it also covers current issues and an outlook into the future of the Elder Scrolls franchise.
Here's a teaser:How are you adressing the bugs which has been reported by the many players of Morrowind so far?
We just released our first patch last week. I'm sure we'll do more in the future to keep addressing things the fans find or want. Many of the problems we see with the game are not bugs, but problems with the drivers people have installed on their computer. That's the first thing we always get people to do, and it fixes the vast majority of problems.
Morrowind has a much darker, "evil aligned" atmosphere than Arena and Daggerfall. Was this purely coincidential or was it a design decision?
Very much a design decision. We wanted to remain true to what Morrowind is supposed to be in Tamriel, the land of the Elder Scrolls. It's a darker place, the culture is not happy go lucky. It's exotic. |
