A preview of Warhammer Online can be found at Frictionless Insight today. They look at different aspects of this upcoming MMORPG, like in the excerpt here:
Climax intends to make the magic system into something different – there will be no mana bars that slowly refill in Warhammer Online. Instead, magic is another skill that can be learned, and it can be practiced by any character. The level of that skill determines how well a practitioner can tap into the world’s magic reserves. Magic in Warhammer Online is conveyed by the Winds of Magic which come in eight colors. To cast spells, mages need to channel the raw power of the Winds of Magic. Unfortunately, mortals take damage while channeling such energy. Good spell casters can channel faster, casting spells faster and making more powerful incantations possible. A poor mage might know a powerful spell, but kill himself trying to channel sufficient power to cast it.

Different regions in the world have their own concentrations of power and balances of the various colors of magic. Some areas will be rich in magical energy, while others may be depleted easily, and will need time to recharge before spells can once again be cast. Also, different zones will have different balances of the eight colors of magic. To make things even more interesting, the balance or strength of the Winds of Magic may change depending on the phases of the moon, seasons of the year, or the completion of certain ceremonies. Ceremonies can include groups of mages working to do ritual magic. By collectively channeling power, multiple spell casters will be able to work powerful magic not possible for a single mage.
