Not much out there this weekend - you have to dig deep to find a newsbit of Relevance. I took the sunday off (good to have a team that makes that possible) and took a drive to the Czech Republic - haven't been there for a while. Nice to stick your nose in real life from time to time, don't want to miss that.
In game related news, I have reactivated Ultima IX lately, and to my delight it is very playable on my computer (1400 Athlon, 512MB, Geforce 2MX with 64MB). Actually, it plays like a game *g* - I still remember what it was like on a P2 350 and a basic GeForce, even with the latest patch. I am back to the Gargoyle city at the time being, and I am looking forward to finish the game once again. Apart from U9, I am playing Wiggles and Stronghold, and I am still fooling around with Pool of Radiance, but with little enthusiasm. I know I was to do a full review for the game, but consider me not really wanting to write one a review on itself :-). While the game isn't too bad, it's nothing outstanding.
I also have Throne of Darkness sitting on my shelf now, but haven't had time to stick my nose into it for more than an hour or so. So far, My feeling is that it must be compared to Diablo 2, and it doesn't do too well in that comparison. Everything that could be considered innovative is poorly implemented (like formations and things like that).
Best news this week was the announcement of Wizardry 8 for November. God, I hope this baby isn't a sucker like some of the recent releases were. Gothic will make you freak out, but not me, as I have played the german version. So Wizardry 8 is my last chance for a nice RPG before christmas (I think we all should get used to the thought that we won't see NWN this year, although the delay has been denied by the developers - and confirmed by the distributors). So if Wizardry 8 stinks (I am not implicating that it will), there is little hope for the rest of the year.
Ok, that's all from me for now. Keep on gaming :-) |
