BluesNews spotted that the technical support page for Wizardry 8 has been updated with an important note by Linda Currie. She has said this in the forums before, but if you haven't read that before, the warning she issued is a valid one:

Even though most people play without a hitch, we have to admit that we’ve been surprised by some situations reported to us. We just want to reaffirm that we care a great deal about Wizardry 8 and will do everything we can to respond as soon as we can.

But it’s time for us to make some requests:

IF YOU HACK, YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. When you hack, use trainers or otherwise "meddle" with the game, there are a lot of things that you could break in the process and not notice for a long time past that point. There are many things you could do that could just break your save completely. Let us just say that there are ways of detecting a hacked save and we are forced to say that, should we get one of these, we will not repair it for you under any circumstance. This is a necessary position for us to take because we could spend a lot of time trying to “fix” a problem that doesn’t really exist. Sorry.

SAVE OFTEN, USE MULTIPLE SLOTS (of course if you are playing Iron Man this won’t work, but otherwise, please do this). Why you might ask? Well, there have been a couple errors that are game critical and although we fix them quick as we can, it’s possible for your game to be affected before the fix is made. When we learn about these, we very much want to help everyone out and fix their saves. But there’s a catch. Fixing save games is not trivial… it’s time consuming and we don’t have unlimited resources. Because of this, we need to ask everyone to carefully consider whether or not they can revert to a previous save before sending in one for fixing.

So, do what you can to help us and we’ll do what we can to help you out.
