Age of Pirates Revealed and Interview @ Pirates Ahoy!

You may recall that Akella wasn't entirely pleased with the direction 'Pirates of the Caribbean' took and began work on 'Sea Dogs 2' as they had originally envisioned it, although it seemed destined for the Russian market only at the time (story). Pirates Ahoy! once again has the scoop and it looks like the original vision will come to the English market as 'Age of Pirates'. Here's a snip from their fairly comprehensive interview with Renat Nezametdinov, project manager of AOP:
PA!: How long has AOP been in development?

Renat: As you maybe know, at first AOP (Sea Dogs 2 back then (was
targeted for Russian market only, without releasing it outside the country. But then we realized that foreign hardcore players also must play AOP ;-). So the game was redesigned for world-wide release. The development of the world-wide version of the game started in May 2004.
