SG Online has written a preview of Star Wars: Galaxies. Here's something about the setting of the game:

Another thing we know is that there will be between seven and twenty planets to explore when the game is released. Five of these are known to us as of December 5th: Tatooine, Naboo, Yavin IV, Endor, and Corellia. Tatooine is the desert planet which can be seen in three of the four Star Wars films (ANH, RotJ, TPM). Naboo is the jungle/swamp planet seen in Episode One. Yavin IV is home to the ancient temples which housed the rebel base in A New Hope, and Corellia is the criminal breeding home world to Han Solo. Endor is the home-moon of the furry Ewoks from Return of the Jedi. Popular suggestions for the sixth and seventh planets include Kashyyyk, home world of the wookies, and Mon Calamari, the birthplace of the fish-like Mon Calamari species.

With the game being set during the Galactic Civil War (The period covered in Episodes IV, V and VI), many people wonder if there will be faction wars similar to the ones in the recently released Dark Age of Camelot. The answer is yes. By doing good deeds for one of the factions (We currently know of three: Rebels, Imperial, and Hutt) a player can become a sympathizer, and eventually an all out member. Once the player becomes a member of the faction, he can engage in PvP (Players vrs Player) combat versus members from that faction's enemies. In the case of Rebels, then can attack Imperials, and vise-versa. Hutts are enemies of both Rebels and Imperials.
