PC.IGN takes a tour through one of the Oblivion Gates in this article. Given the effort Bethsoft put into keeping the hell plane secret, I guess some will consider this spoilerish:
First, the Oblivion dimension's sky is more ferocious and interesting than most of what you'll see in Cyrodiil. Streaked with red and yellow arms of tortured cloud, Oblivion's sky is slashed by lighting on a regular basis, making it one of the dimension of Oblivion's most engaging aspects. It's a realm full of fire, lava flows and daedra infested caves that not only looks menacing, but acts that way. Seemingly docile plants lining rock-choked passages will come alive and whip any that pass near. Stones on hillsides frequently tumble down to crush whoever walks below.
There's also another article that looks at the Arena:
When first stepping up to the arena, you'll talk to an elf named Hundolin and be asked whether or not you want to join up. Since for the purposes of this article we're assuming you do, you'll need to head into the Arena Bloodworks and speak to Owyn. Before doing that, you may just want to check out the structure you'll be fighting in. What better way to do so than simultaneously gambling while sightseeing? Hundolin offers you the option of dropping some gold coin on either the Yellow Team or the Blue Team. There's really no advantage here, just take your pick and hope for the best.
