The latest site to be disappointed with 'Spells of Gold' is VideoGamesLife. Their review hands dwon a score of 40% and here's a snip:
Your first couple of hours with Spells of Gold are not going to be much fun at all. Once you get over the audacity that your nameless protagonist has a voice actor that sounds like he’s 50 you expect things to pick up. They don’t. After the short and – undeniably – intriguing opening monologue you are thrust straight into the game proper. Thrust straight into the rubbish animation and annoying isometric view. Thrust straight into the game with no bloody clue as to what you’re supposed to be doing. So you go wandering about the town. And then it hits you, and it hits you hard: Christ almighty, the animation on these characters is horrible!
