Gameaxis has put up a review of Might and Magic IX, giving it a lukewarm 6.0.

Either 3DO is attempting the biggest tribute to Star Wars or they must have something for clonings. Towns are filled with look-alike milkmaids who serve as trainers. I counted four in one particular screen and took a screen shot for posterity. I also observe that the local boating venture must be run by the same family whose members looked like actor Tim Curry but have different surnames. Then there is Old Man, the first character you meet at the start of the game whom you so affectionately call Grandpa. Don't get me wrong here, the dialogue box indicates the person as Old Man but the player greets him as Grandpa. Anyway Old Man is quite something else as he is able to be ahead of you in your adventures by appearing as a drunkard, a person who has fathered four children and even a trainer of skills, all at the same time!
