The corporation sat down with Claymore Dragon (lead designer) and asked him all about Lazarus efforts to revreate Ultima 5.
G. Bob: So, let’s start off with the basics. Tell us a about your project. Who are you? What is Lazarus? How did you get involved?
Slyfeind: Well, I go by Claymore Dragon in the Ultima community, but a Google search of "Slyfeind" would reveal my real name of Scott Tengelin...no big secret there. I'm a sound designer and stage manager by trade. I'd been modding ever since the old Adventure Construction Set days, made tons of maps and mods for Heroes of Might and Magic, Civilization, Runesword. A lot of 'em were Ultima related, so when I found a link from an Ultima fansite asking for worldbuilders for the Ultima 5 remake, I jumped on the opportunity. As for what Lazarus is, it's kind of a toss-up. It's either a mod of Dungeon Siege based on the old Ultima 5 game by OSI, or it's a remake of the old Ultima 5 using the Dungeon Siege engine. Subtle difference, but sometimes it feels more like the former than the latter.
Go and read the lengthy and very interesting interview here.
