The latest Fallen Earth newsletter lobbed into my inbox - I'm not sure there is an online version, so here's the complete text:Dear Friends of Fallen Earth™,
Please don't hate us for our silence... we're just real busy and each of us focused on his task list...
YES, we are alive and very well. We’re still not ready internally to give you all proper attention, but you deserve at least a Newsletter every once in a while!
On the tech side, we've been busy these past months integrating some new technologies to upgrade the look of the game in such areas as trees and environments, working on shadows and lighting, and continuing to optimize and improve engine performance. The technology and programming behind the scenes is fundamental to your game experience, and, given the scope of the project, we do not want to compromise or cut corners.
On the art side, we've also been really busy with character customization.
We've implemented thousands of combinations of faces, hairstyles, skin tones, body and facial hair, tattoos, piercings, and makeup. Players will be able to mix and match to their heart's desire, then go nuts with clothing, armor and accessories (up to 22 slots), and carry up to 6 active weapons, all of which are visible.
But wait! We're just getting started...
Everyone likes feeling unique, and we're shooting for unprecedented levels of customization to enhance your role-playing enjoyment. You'll be able to zip up your jacket to protect yourself from the chill of the night when you're wandering the wastelands or wear your jacket open when toiling under the scorching noontime sun. You can even tuck in your shirt when someone complains that you look like a slob, or flip your baseball cap backwards when you're getting ready to wade into a brawl... how cool is that?
Okay, we can't let too many cats out've the bag, and we've got work to get back to.
Before we go, however, we just wanted to caution you against taking any rumor or speculation to heart. We have already seen some false suppositions crop up on various forums. You should know that at this point almost nothing is written in stone as far as content, pricing, beta/release timing, or features are concerned for the game.
We are playing with a ton of concepts for combat, pvp, crafting/building, player progression, missions, mutant powers, physics, equipment, vehicles, skills, etc. which will continue to evolve all the way through beta. We love to see constructive discussions about what you all like and dislike about other games. We are gamers too and some of us probably play in the same games as you…
At the end of the day, it all factors in when we work on our own game.
