The thrid of four features at RPGVault today is a preview of A Tale in the Desert, a rather unusual MMORPG by EGenesis. This is how they start their preview:
Among many dozens of persistent state worlds currently in development, only a very small minority stray outside the realms of fantasy and science fiction. Fewer still abstain from implementing combat as a core game mechanic. A Tale in the Desert is developer eGenesis' potentially groundbreaking game in which players are dropped into Ancient Egypt and given the task of working together to build a perfect society. While the title is far from complete, beta testing is under way. New content and features are being added at frequent intervals, and what is available at this time is unusual and intriguing in various ways.

In order to create an ideal social order, players must advance in the Seven Disciplines of Man. Each of these plays on the strengths and weaknesses of the players, not their in-game characters. Leadership requires being good at convincing others to do things. Conflict tests the ability to strategize. Architecture is the one for those who like trade skills (although some, like cooking, are also possible within other disciplines). Individuals who have natural talent or vision would enjoy pursuing Art and Music. Worship fits the social directors who enjoy putting together events for large groups of people, while the Human Body appeals most to those who take pleasure in exploration over all other pursuits. Finally, Thought requires mental acuity, as players will be asked to solve puzzles.
