GameBiz has posted its review of 'Lionheart' awarding Black Isle's/Reflexive's alternate history RPG a lukewarm score of 68%.
One of Lionheart’s main issues is a struggling combative system. The system that runs in real-time fails to allow a balanced fighting arena which turns out to be more of a furious attack on the left and right mouse buttons instead of marveling at the superiority that you have created your character to become compared to the lesser enemies of the game. Comparisons of the combat system from Lionheart and Diablo are there to be seen yet Lionheart couldn’t seem to put itself in the same level with the battles becoming boring and adverse. The magical side of the combat gives you a chance to use your spell skills if your player is strong with magic, when you have effectively killed a enemy you can then steal there gold and with magic your able to make there corpse disappear. Purchasing weapons and other items is all apart of the game like most RPG’s, entering buildings and street stalls you have the chance of buying weapons, spells and potions. However you do start with magic abilities and some players may not enjoy this because they’d like to accomplish this feature by themselves instead of being given it from the start.
