It's GCC, too, having done a review of UO: Lord Blackthorn's Revenge (I think that sentence seriously sucks *g*). Their rating is a lukewarm 6/10 - and here is why:
Lord Blackthorn's Revenge has achieved what Third Dawn should have. Yet in 2002, that's not saying much. The graphics are still dated, the interface is somewhat clumsy, and features aren't even fully implemented into the game. But the additions of new creatures, improved AI, more items to find, and a whole new land mass to explore, and a new digital soundtrack, longtime players will be more than satisfied with the expansion. As for everyone else out there, there are just better RPG's as a whole already on the market, your money may be better spent investing into those games. Still, Ultima Online will march on, and hopefully they will go back to the drawing board, and work on raising the standards to a level that the Ultima series deserves |
