Jonric from RPG Vault has conducted an interview with Horns & Hooves Lead Designer and Scriptwriter Andrew "digger" Popov and Lead Programmer and Project Leader Konstantin "fluff" Kapustin about their company's upcoming post-apocalyptic 3D RPG set in Siberia. Jonric: To begin with the basics, what type of game is Phase: Exodus? What are the main things that have influenced its design, and what kinds of gameplay experience are you aiming to provide?
Andrew Popov: The Phase: Exodus project of Horns and Hooves studio is a 3D role-playing game that takes the player to a possible future of the Earth, to a world that survived a global catastrophe.
Konstantin Kapustin: Firstly, the game is dedicated to true RPG fans and lovers - there are some features and aspects that are traditional for RPG genre, like turn-based combat, certain ways of solving problems, classic third-person view, etc.
The game will be especially interesting for the fans of such games as Fallout 1, 2 (post-apocalyptic setting) and turn-based tactical games like Jagged Alliance 1, 2, etc.
For the main game features, we can begin the list with a realistic science fiction world. Our quest matrix is a series of connected quests, partly built with the technology of plot projecting, and APARpS is our specially developed role system. Some others are
- many ways to interact with the gameworld; e.g. entering houses through windows, many kinds of "quiet killing", constructing weapons and equipment, many tactical solutions, hard social interaction, etc.
- multiplayer mode
- more than 150 kinds of weapons. |
