HomeLan Fed sat down with Justin Pace, the Online Community Manager at Irrational Games, and conducted an interview about modding and stuff. Here is a snippet:
HomeLAN- When the company decided to make Freedom Force available for mod makers, what were the main goals for creating the mod tools?

Justin Pace- For me, it was flexibility. The fan should be able to exercise their creativity at any level, from a single custom sound effect to an entire Campaign. Being user friendly was important, as well, because what use is a tool that no one can use? I think that they did a fantastic job of creating a versatile, usable tool. The next step is to promote an exchange of information. The team did a great job with the documentation. I'm no programmer, but I was able to sit down the first time with these tools and create a mission that worked. The more we can encourage people to share their personal knowledge as they learn the tools, the better informed the mod community will be, and by extension, the better quality the mods themselves will be.
