Adrenaline Vault has posted a hands-on preview of Artifact's Horizons based on a 'Play Day' that various media outlets were invited to:Building things is a huge part of Horizons. At various locations, both in the cities and out in the wilds, there are banks of public resource refining machines such as anvils, forges, looms, spinning wheels and sawmills. Sometimes, a single raw resource has to be refined at two or three separate stations before it can be fashioned into a finished product. When you use one of these machines, there’s usually an unfavorable ratio of raw materials to finished product. That is, if you start with 20 units of copper ore, you’d end up with ten or 15 units of bronze. You can attempt to alter this ratio and get more metal for the same amount of ore, but the more you change it, the greater the risk that your attempt will fail and you’ll lose a large portion of your resources. The effort that goes into making items is worth it, though, as not only do you gain experience in your guild from harvesting and refining resources, but the longer you spend making a particular item, the higher the price you can expect to get for it. |
