Computer and Video Games have conducted an interview with William Frost, the Lead Game Designer of Sony Online Entertainment's 'EverQuest II'.
Here's the opening question and its corresponding answer:What's the story behind this new EverQuest title?
Frost: Well, it's the sequel to Everquest. We're thinking of it as a parallel universe because we're still intending to fully expand the original EverQuest alongside this one. Our goals with EverQuest 2 are to really bring it back to a more intimate, meaningful role-playing experience. We want to focus on co-operative play with small groups of four to six people.
The game takes place thematically 500 years after the current EverQuest game - the world has been rocked by a series of cataclysms, starting with the destruction of the moon. So the world of Norrath where all the action takes place has been shattered, and so players come into this world as refugees.
There are two remaining cities that the players are kind of funnelling into, using those as a base of operations to go out and explore the world again. |
