In Part 2 of the Irth Online Wrap Report, Magic Hat Software shares more insights into the game with RPG Vault.Changes and Enhancements
Well, quite a few things changed actually from the creation of the business plan to launch. The first thing was the story. The original one was sub-standard at best, with one evil character. Everyone was basically good. but all evil emanated from one central character. The story was entirely linear and devoid of any inherent conflict between civilizations. It really did not set the stage for PvP battles and civilization wars, features that were important to us. So, that story was thrown away, and we started from scratch. The new one focused on one ancient civilization that broke off into four distinct groups. This way, all of them believe they are essentially good, and the others are bad. They all have a desire to reunite the world under one ideological rule. It's more like the real world. And it is a story that has inherent conflict that lends itself to ongoing development and civilization wars.
With the trashing of the story went the trashing of all the names and places plus the map. I couldn't even pronounce our original civilization names and places. Everyone was pronouncing the same civilization differently, and we came to realize that if we don't know how to say it, let alone spell it, this must go. More... | Source: RPG Vault |
