RPGDot Game Rating Machine

deadraque has rated the following games:

Arcanum - Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura: 8/10 points

Great game again from the Fallout Team, but can't help it Fallout 2 was still the best, I bored a bit too much on Arcanum but still it offers a great diversity. perhaps I chosed the wrong character, I should perhaps try another one that could offer me more fun.

Diablo: 10/10 points

I played this game over and over and over again. It is absolutly addictive like hell. It has so much to offer especially the fun, something what game misses completly lately! Now they make it for money, that is the difference, it is the only game that had an option of completly have a new map at each start. One tip play it in Multiplayer mode (even if you are single player) so you won't be able to save and have to fight to get your stuff back after you die. Someting again what Diablo 2 destroyed... Anyway I think this is one of the best games I have ever played especially if we talk about the fun factor and multiplayer mode. True it isn't a real RPG, but wow what a kick we had. Those who never played and try it now, the new kids generations will probably hate it, but can't even imagine the hours fun we had at that time. If only they knew how deep it is. Remember the shrines, How many of us have been looking for thos Amulets of the Zodiac!!! The deadly Succubus demons and so much more and that the game makes 3 several levels after you reach level 20 or 30 bringing you new objects stronger mobs and so on made it look like an endless game. Absolute topper!

Elder Scrolls 3 - Morrowind: 5/10 points

Looking fantastic in the start... But the futher you go the more bore you get, the longer the extreemly anoying NPC chats get in a world that looks the same from the first pixel to the last... Every single house color or interior looks the same, this goes for dungeon's too. In Daggerfall II there was also this problem, but I felt a much bigger freedom and a much less bore, with RANDOM dungeons and other features. Daggerfall offered also the complexity of learning the game, how to fight, how to explore, learning the interface... This also dissapeared in Morrorwind completly, so all the kids from 8-15 could play it... I don't have anything against that but we lost something magical that still is being offered in MMORPG's where you have no idea how exactly to start and have to learn so much, remember Ultima online, you needed like weeks even months to understand all the tweaks. Anyway it isn't bad, but we far from a great RPG with a magnificient roleplay. Again there are many other games that where much better. If only they could be brought back... Look at fallout 2. The only new great RPG in my eyes at this moment is Neverwinter Nights, but this has to be because of the Mod Community that do amazing jobs, and have the liberty to reinvent each story or mod.

Fallout - A Post Nuclear Adventure: 9/10 points

Absolutly fantastic but a bit short and as I also played and finished Fallout 2 I rather give a 10 to F2 as there was even more liberty.

Fallout 2: 10/10 points

I think this is the game that offerend me the most fun I ever had. Be able to play in X movies, be a lesbian, take drugs, lose an ear in a boxing round... And so much more immoral things. The combat system is great, the map is big, giving you a full freedom. I never saw any other game offering so much things and that can be renewed at each start after chosing another kind of character. Play a beaty, play an idiot that can barely talk and soooo much more. Fantastic, to bad that the team left and became Troika, why don't they make another game like this even if it has another name we will know about it...

Freelancer: 7/10 points

Great space fighting game. But to less merchant possibilities. As Elite (on the amiga) was probably the game I played the most in my lifetime, I was waiting a game to offer me this one more time. Freelancer did good, very good with a fantastic mouse combat system amazing graphics even for low config computers. But we are far from Elite who offered thousands and thousand of planets, with calculaed feul, I remember having the first storyline mission after 25 hours of realtime flying, training and building veryyyyy slowly your ship and personality, where Freelancer offers the mission the first minute you go into the game. There is also a lack of learning, the game is way to easy that you pretty know all about the interface, gameplay and playability of the game, and ouch the game is over after a 25-33 hours... I was never be able to finish Elite even after 190.000 kills there where still systems in the game I never saw or heard about... Good try, but made for the people genre. Not the kind of hard elite gamers, who want more and more and more without even be able to end it some day.

Icewind Dale: 7/10 points

Very good... But after playing NWN it looks more like a NWN mod then a game. I absolutly loved Icewind dale untill NWN came out. It still is amazing but after finishing it 3 times i didn't see 1 single difference with whatever character you take. So that means everyone is doing the same freaking linear story...

Neverwinter Nights: 10/10 points

This game is fantastic. I would rate it a 8-9 but thanks to modabilty Bioware offers us the game becomes a kind of dream, giving the ability to play those famous chapters you did in AD&D with pen and paper. Only thing i would like to dream of is a kind of random quest maker and map maker, so the things change every time you start a game, a bit like Diablo. For the rest AD&D rules are very nicely respected. Take the monstrous database books from AD&D and the discription in the books corespond pretty well the game. if it has this or that power, most of the time it will be used against you at some point.
