Thanks to Mattia from MMORPG Italia for letting us know that they have posted an interview with Climax' Clint Roberts. You need to scroll down a little to find the English version of the interview. 6) How will quests work? Will there be interactive quests following the player’s actions?
Quests will range from basic one-goal jobs (very menial tasks such as giving an item to another NPC for a small reward) to epic missions (multi task quests which will determine a character’s fame or infamy across a vast amount of the Empire).
At launch there will be hundreds of quests written by our team of developers and we’ll be adding more using the game design tools after launch. As well as the Climax team, Games Workshop’s top guys (like Warhammer creator Rick Priestley) will be adding their own quests to the game too. These people have a deep knowledge of the Warhammer background and many have games mastered traditional pen and paper RPGs, so expect to see some imaginative and branching quests featuring differing complexity and goals.
Also, if you leave the population of beasties in an area alone for too long they will begin to group, set up camp and then generate tougher, nastier beasts. Let this population get too high and a villager who lives nearby will set you a quest to wipe out the threat, so we have dynamic self generated quests too.
The openness of our career system is one of the quest system’s major strengths. Because you're not tied down to a certain class’ quests, if you find you’re growing tired of hack and slash warrior missions you can simply work your way into another career, such as magic, and open up a range of new quests. |
