GameSpy has an 'Auto Assault' diary of sorts titled A Life in the Wasteland, written from the first-person perspective of a BioMek:Who am I? Oh, I have a name -- "Ilyana," but that doesn't really describe who I am. Our name, though, is the first, last, and only truly free choice a Biomek has. They ask us to select one when we choose our profession. I could have been a Terminator, I suppose. There's something very visceral about being a frontline warrior, crushing the enemies of our race under the wheels of a monstrous death machine. Not much thinking, of course, but not much chance for reflection and melancholia, either. Constructor? Perhaps. The appeal of repair and support is very real. I never even considered Agent. All Biomeks have their quirks, of course, but the shiftiness in the eyes of our special ops cadre makes me think they may have a few more bolts loose than even the Derelicts. That left only Mastermind -- a planner, a thinker, a commander, and the master of a dozen different kinds of robotic servants ranging from guided laser drones to a small Mek. |
