1Up's Jeremy Parish unveils his own enthusiastic, albeit non-rated, critique re Myst IV: Revelations...
Cliche as it may sound, you get from Myst IV what you put into it. Those whose definition of "video game" begins and ends with explosions and adrenaline will be have a hard time making it past the opening cinema. Yet those willing to approach the game with patience, attention and an open mind will be able to enjoy the game for what it is. Slow-paced, frequently burdened by self-importance, and often frustrating, Revelation isn't a game for everyone. Still, Cyan Worlds has crated a game that rises above preconceptions and corrects many of the series' worst problems without deviating from what made the series so popular in the first place. Though hardly the revolution that the original Myst was, it's still an impressive achievement in the art of integrated visual and game design. |
