BlueMonday has conducted an interview with Antonio Mora, Director of Spain-based New Horizons Studios, developers of Nightstone. Nightstone is an isometric fantasy RPG, featuring real-time combat and a full-featured level editor. Here's a something from this interview, dealing with the magic system:
Could you describe the magic system in the game?

The magic system is based in the use of magic scrolls that we can use whenever we’d like to. There’s no limitation to use these scrolls although the power of the spell depends on the magic level of the hero. Each character has a mana capacity and every spell spends an amount of it. This mana is the combustible needed to perform spells and it’s recharged with the passing of time or by drinking potions.
On the other hand, there are sceptres which are magical weapons designed to be used by the sorceress. There are 4 different categories of spells produced by the sceptres: Fire, Ice, Necromancy and Electricity.
