Head over to 1Up for a review of NCsoft's 'Lineage II'. The score is a mediocre 6.5/10 and here's a sample:The original Lineage, among other things, inspired its hardcore players in South Korea to attack each other in real life in response to transgressions committed in-game. This is both a testament to its popularity in that country, and to the level of ruthless behavior allowed by its gameplay system. While it would be surprising to witness "offline player-killings" in North America, Lineage II is, essentially, no different from its predecessor, in that regard. It's a massively-multiplayer online RPG that allows for open player-versus-player combat, and one that requires an intense level of commitment. More so than other games of its type, Lineage II requires you to sink massive amounts of time into developing your character, and acquiring the resources with which to properly equip it. And since its most intriguing feature -- namely, player-versus-player combat -- isn't fully implemented, its hard to justify the time it will require you to spend. |
