Warhammer Online Interview at PC Gaming

PC Gaming has an interview with General Manager Robin Dews from Warhammer online (and a fabulous artwork from the game, by the way). The interview is very detailed, and if you want to know more about this upcoming MMORPG, you'll find a lot of info there. Here's an excerpt:
Can you offer some information on some of the items and weapons available in the game?

Mmmmm... one of the things that makes Warhammer interesting and separates it out from the standard ‘sword and sorcery’ style of fantasy game is that it has a very different kind of background. Warhammer has a ‘Renaissance’ mediaeval background rather than a ‘Dark Age’ setting. The European Renaissance was a fascinating period when the intellectual ability of the people completely outstripped the technological and social resources of the society. Thus while the Inquisition was threatening Galileo for saying that the earth moved round the sun, Leonardo was drawing plans for flying machines and tanks!

We are able to play ‘what if’ with this background and so we have a very interesting combination of plague, fear, torture, technology, mysticism, magic and of course guns! It makes for a good game setting.

So to answer the question… the weapons will all be pretty standard for the Warhammer world and background – swords, axes, halberds, etc., but handguns and rifles will also make their appearance!

In terms of items, a similar principle applies, if it was available in Europe between about 1200 and 1600 then it might turn up in the game!
