In addition zo our report on the Fighting Legend Beta 3 (two newsbits down), there is an interview with Dale Lullo at MMO today. He talks about Beta 3, and here's a piece of it:

As you’re taking a relatively revolutionary lead on the distribution of your open beta CDs, how do you expect you’re going to handle the increased load of handholding that is going to be necessary? You realize that you’re probably going to get folks in the open beta that may have never played an online game before, but liked the pretty pictures on the CD cover. Do you have anything in store to help along the “old-timers” that might be less than bemused by the onrush of Poke/Digi/N-mon types?

Our goal since day one has been for Fighting Legends to lower the barrier to online gaming. The controls are designed to resemble the console action style of controls. There are safety zones for players to get accustom to these controls, resurrection abilities so players don’t lose everything when defeated in battle, and a level guard that prevents higher level players from picking on beginners. Additionally, the world gets much more challenging the farther out you go. This will encourage higher-level players to explore the outer realms, leaving the newbies to explore the inner realms with other players of equal levels. We also have 5 levels of Customer Service support. At the bottom, is our self-help web site www.mcszone.com which includes detailed FAQ’s, a beginners tutorial and an extensive Knowledge Base. The second level is our Apprentice Game Masters who provide the first point of contact. The third level is our Game Masters who will have the ability to fix minor technical difficulties and correct issues the Apprentices bring to their attention. Next is our World Masters who have even more abilities and will handle the issues given to them by the Game Masters. And finally, there are the Grand Masters who will handle the most severe technical issues. We also will have scheduled tours that include a mini training seminar for new players. We will be flushing out the details during beta 3 as to the frequency and exact itinerary. And finally, on the Beta 3 sleeves that are currently at many local retailers, we have included some of the common keyboard commands so players can jump right in without getting the beta manual off the cd.
