Gamespy has published an Etherlords 2 Dev Diary, written by Oleg Belaychook. This game has changed its direction lately, going from a RTS with RPG elements to an RPG (which is a good thing, I'd say). Here's how the article starts:
n this entry I'll be uncovering some secrets regarding the story behind Etherlords II! First, I have to mention that the storyline in EL II has changed quite a bit due to the change in the game genre from strategy to role-playing. Once in the game you'll see that it is comprised of five campaigns, and in each campaign you'll find a number of different maps that make up the "World of Lords." What you'll be doing on all these maps we can no longer refer to as missions, as you won't be getting a grocery list of mission objectives when your hero appears. You'll have a high degree of freedom as to where you want to point your trusty mount, and while there is a main purpose that needs to be achieved in each place, it can usually be accomplished in a variety of ways. |
