A score of 7.5/10 is the result of 1UP's 'EverQuest II' review. There are really two different schools of people who will be wondering about EverQuest 2: those who liked the first EverQuest and want to know how much a beloved formula has been tampered with, and those who like the idea of MMORPGs but up until now haven't been impressed by the execution and are wondering if the concept has finally matured. It's never possible to please everyone, and it's always harder when reaching out to new users means to risk alienating long-time fans. The problem is even more pronounced when rather than promising dozens of hours of play time the game in question can demand literally thousands of hours from the player. Instead of a momentary distraction, players expect a whole alternate world to return to again and again over the course of years. |
