EVE is in a bit of a mess and is being released too early with too little balancing and testing, with numerous features missing and a hell of a lot of promises requiring fulfilment.
The "new player" experience is bewildering with a learning abyss that many may never climb out of.
It may be best to wait 6 months when they will, almost inevitably, be offering free-trials in desperation to get players back into it (and when some of it should be working properly)... on the other hand it may really pull the rabbit out the hat.

Don't hold your breath and don't buy this game thinking it will be much anything like it claims it will be.
