There is an interview with Mark Jacobs from Mythic on GameDaily, discussing Dark Age of Camelot and the Shrouded Isles expansion, as well as Imperator, their upcoming MMORPG. Here's an excerpt for you:
The engine behind Shrouded Isles will help make old DAOC haunts looks better as well, providing a boost in graphics to the entire contents of the game, not just expansion pack content.
Jacobs wouldn't provide GameDaily with the number of copies of Shrouded Isles Mythic and Vivendi Universal Games (the title's distributor) expect to ship in North America for launch, but he said pre-orders on the title were "high."
Next, GameDaily posed the question about competition in the MMORPG market, specifically with the release of Asheron's Call 2: Fallen Kings next week (November 22). Interestingly, Jacobs stated that, " From what we've seen, a large segment of the user base plays multiple (MMORPG) games." He cited "low" monthly subscription rates as the reasoning behind such a theory, noting that subscribing to two online games for $12.95 per month each, still adds up to almost half what a new PC game costs at retail. "We are seeing a lot of crossover, we know a lot of our people play EverQuest," said Jacobs. |
