This is for Gothic n00bs. Early on in the game, if you treck over to the new mine, talk to Swiney. Tell him you want to be a scraper, and whether or not you tell him you have experience on the job, he'll give you some free Digger's Trousers! _________________ OMG! WTF?! MONKEYS!!!!

A small (but reasonable ) cheat to use:
While I can understand why you can't reasonably get armor off people you beat up, and if you either just don't want to start killing people or don't realisticly have the time and privacy to mess with a dead body just after killing someone -- there is someone you have private access to, you didn't kill and who will not really be missed: Nek!
All you have to is possess Nek's body, hit F8 to revive him, have him drop his armor, go back to you own body and then "kill" Nek again. Now you have some light Guard armor early in the game (when you could really use it!) and you can justify the cheat to youself as actually being somewhat reasonable.
See, I can justify almost anything! _________________ imposterAZ

While that's a neat trick, I must disagree. It is not reasonable if you want to play the game through correctly. As you know, guilds are identified by their armor, and as you're not a guard, you are the only one to have another guild's armor. With the Light Guard's Armor you can plow through Chapters 1 and 2 with no trouble. _________________ OMG! WTF?! MONKEYS!!!!

Understand, I've done this only after completing the game, with no cheats, as an Old Camper, New Camper and as a Sect Camper. Now I'm just looking around for odd and/or interesting ways to twist the game around.
To go along with the "justification" of taking Nek's armor, I would only wear the armor outside of any camp and take it off (unselect it) before entering any camp (until I was actually an accepted Old Camper).
Actually, you can have the low level armor of all three camps at the same time -- at the Free Mine you can get free scraper armor, you can buy digger armor from Fisk in the Old Camp and you can buy light novice armor from the gate Templers of the Sect Camp. I even toyed with having all three armors and wearing the armor of the camp I was in as sort of "protective coloration" -- though the game's AI doesn't really care what you are wearing, only what guild you are in your stats.
I understand that in Gothic 2, what you are wearing at the moment does have an effect, though. I'm impatiently waiting for my copy. _________________ imposterAZ
