Help with early Balmora Mages' Guild quests!

I'm having trouble with a couple of the earlier Mages' Guild quests - uno, Ajira told me that that evil wood elf chick stole his manuscripts on mushrooms and flowers and that he needs them to make Journeyman. I found the mushroom one hidden in all those baskets by the stairs, but I can't for the life of me find the flowers one. Secundo, the Head Chief person told me to go collect guild dues from someone (whose name I've inconveniently forgotten) and to go convince a sorcerer (whose name I've also inconveniently forgotten) to join the guild or kill him (out by Morang Mar (sp?)). Now, I can kill the guy dead, no problem, but the person who's supposed to pay the dues says that I should pay them. When I report back to Head Chief Person, she just tells me to go collect the dues. What to do? Kill the infidel?

2nd scroll - check in the room where the beds are. Look around on the floor. It's either under the bed or over by the wardrobe (closet, whatever you want to call it)

Collecting the dues - if you can get your individual rep with her higher, bribe/admire/intimidate - Manwe will cough up the dough.

Convincing Llarar Bereloth to join - same thing. Get your rep with that individual higher and they will join.

Almost all the convince/collect dues quests for the Mages Guild work this way.

#1 You can find all 4 mushrooms in the Bitter Coast Region, East of Balmora, just like the quest says in your journal. You can find all 4 flowers next to that lake close to Balmora, sorry forgot name of region and lake, but both are explained well when your given the quest, check journal for better details. You might beable to find them from the alchemist in Balmora, exit Mage Guild, go right, then left up stairs than go ight, straight ahead u see the Dunmer Temple, look left of Temple you see the Alchemist.

#2 Try bribing/admiring him till he is upto 100 (no need to bribe with tons of money, use the 10gp option, might take a long time but if you don't have the money than works well) Once you get them to 100 they might magically change their mind as to what you want. I bet you'll get what the money after you get them to 100. I haven't yet done this quest but thats how others have worked so far in my journeys.

Hope this helps.

Thanks much, and wow. I guess the Imperial Cult won't want me as a member anymore. I almost feel bad about killing the guy, now.

Almost

Any suggestions on successful persuasion? My character's a battlemage, and isn't exactly the most eloquent of individuals - the only persuasion that tends to work is the 100gp bribe, and it'd be rather ironic to have to pay this Manwe to get her to give me her dues. And if there really isn't any other way... what's an easy way to make money? >

Buy a Charm spell. When they are successful, you will have 100 rep with the vicitim and you get all the good options. Casting Charm isn't considered an attack so cast it, talk to them to see if it worked. If it didn't, just try again.

I don't remember which Guild has the Charm spell, but you can use the travel thing to get between all of them quickly and find the person who sells it.

Sweet! I went and whipped some questing ass. Spreading that gold around does give you a better reputation, that's for sure. Thx for the outstandingly rapid advice.
