It wasn't so much a town as a monster lair. I agree a little more interaction would be nice. I kind of got a little nervous with a dozen orcs following me all over the camp grunting and shouting 'Oooba-shaka' and the like while I bopped around with the Ullu-mullu out.

I would have preferred even a "Uuuh... you great warrior. Respect. You pass now." from a scripted NPC orc at the bridge

Hmm...I rather enjoyed the sensation of being tagged along with. It felt rather real, as if they were hurling Orcish insults at me, but were nevertheless deterred by my large and deadly-looking Ulu-Mulu (nothing compared to my massive axe, of course).

Actually, according to the escaped slave's journal... the Temple was built by humans, captured by orcs. As for why no beds... you ever seen an orc sleep?

But if they were captured slaves, wouldn't they be working from already existing plans? Otherwise why capute the slaves? I didn't see any human slaves in the orc town. Hmm, maybe the orcs would kidnap humans to be concubines.

I just think a lot more could have been done with it.

Yeah like the human concubine cages, or a bunch of little half human half orc kiddies running around.

heh, ya got me there, even the journal points to the design being Orcish, but it'd be my contention that whatever source they used to get information on summoning the thing probably let 'em know exactly what they needed as far as a building.

(hehe I'm playind devils advocate here, btw, I was also pretty amazed at the sophistication level of that temple)
