Is there some benefit in version 1.07? Because 1.08 is out already.

Your version should be 1.08j. 1.08k is only necessary if Gothic doesn´t start.

Version history:
1.06l - first german CDROM release
1.07c - first german patch
1.08h - second german patch
1.08i - german patch Kyro II cards
--
1.08j - second german CDROM release / first english CDROM release
1.08k - german/english patch for GeForce3 and Radeon 7500/8500
--
There are only two GothicMOD Player-Kits:
1.08mod (1.08h) - for first german CDROM release only! (1.08h required)
1.08k_mod (1.08k) - for all other german/english versions
