Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion - Two Official Bethesda Websites ( |
|
I'm not really sure of the why, but Bethesda appears to have actually created two (distinctly different) Elder Scrolls: Oblivion websites...i.e. there is this Elder Scrolls: Oblivion <a href="http://www.elderscrolls.com/home/home.htm" target="_blank">website</a>, as reported about yesterday by my collegue, Moriendor...and then there is the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion <a href="http://www.elderscrolls.com/games/oblivion_overview.htm" target="_blank">website</a> I came across this AM. I have noted that, on either website, if you click on the "Home" section - you are automatically re-directed to the Oblivion website reported on yesterday - however, if you click open the "Games" section of either website, then click again on the "Oblivion" link - you are re-routed to the website I found...interesting!! |

The first page (Posted yesterday) is the elderscrolls page. It covers the elderscrolls series of games.
http://www.elderscrolls.com/home/home.htm
The second link (in this news post) is a section within the original site that is just an overview of Oblivion.
http://www.elderscrolls.com/games/oblivion_overview.htm
As you can see from the links, they are the same site. Not sure how you could think they are two different site.

Ummm - I disagree on three counts: (1) you are basing your perception (I believe) on the URL addresses...whereas, while I concur with you that the website reported on yestereday is, indeed, the "Official" Elder Scrolls website - I also disagree with your thought on the website reported on today - I believe today's website is, in fact, the "Official" Oblivion website.
(2) I also disagree on your opinion that they are the same websites - take a much closer look - you'll see that they are, indeed, distinctly different. Not that it really makes an earthshattering difference - but I thought it interesting enough to report on.
(3) I don't know where in heaven you have the idea I am on drugs - especially as you know virtually nothing about me...it has been, however, my experience that those who make such outlandish comments are (generally) guilty of that very comment themselves:-) |

The first site is Bethsoft's homepage. The second one is the Oblivion section. Same site. |

I have to say that they are the same site. If you go surfing through the ElderScrolls.com site, everthing changes depending on where you are. The site you are linking to today is just the main announcement page. The one yesterday is the home/front page for the Elder Scrolls site. Two different sites would be more like ElderScrolls.com and Oblivion.com, or Oblivion.ElderScrolls.com even. Just because the page looks different, doesn't mean the actual site is different.
And I don't think the web page is different, just different graphics, or ads. But even the ads looked the same to me. _________________ Paladin Rithe |

Do not most pages on a single website have different content? What would be the point in having two pages on a single site that are identical?
The web design is identical
The top banner graphic is different because its supposed to immediately depict what the page is about.
The right nav with the ads is identical.
The left nav is unique because its a sub-nav for that section of the site.
The content is unique because whats the point of duplicating content.
I suppose next we are gonna have a single book refered to as 500 books because each page had different pictures and content?
I am not saying that your post is not news worthy, but to claim they are different sites is incredibly bizarre... _________________ IMHO my opinion is humble |

Free James Brown.
This is a stupid argument. Who cares. Two sites, one site...James Brown is still incarcerated. Lets focus on the real issues. |

If will allow this perversion of the English language to continue then the whole world will go to hell!
Sounds more important than JB to me
Serious response: I agree, its not like it realy matters that much. But I dont have much else to talk about right now . I am waiting for my G2 Gold Edition to arive so I can play NOTR. Until then I will continue to partake in as many fruitless debates as possible _________________ IMHO my opinion is humble |
