Questions About My Future Character. (All Help Appreciated)

i plan to make my character a theif / assassin with using marksman as my major way of attack.

1. what is more affective long bow, crossbow, throwing stars /knives?

2. what skools of magik should he use? alchemy? enchant? alteration?

3. would athletics and acrobatics be usful skills?

4. i hear bows need to b repairs often, so would armorer be a usful skill?

5. not a marksman question, but can you make a potion that levetates u?

I can only answer some of your questions.

3. For a thief, I'd definitely think that both acrobatics and athletics would be good skills. I'd put acrobatics as a major skill and athletics as a minor.

4. Bows need to be repaired as often as other items. I do find armorer a useful skill. I have it as a minor skill. Your armor will need to be repaired too, btw.

5. Absolutely on the levitation potion. But why not do it one better and make an amulet of levitation? I love floating over castle walls and arriving in style.

1. In my experience, crossbows, but they're damn hard to come across, and so are bolts - most of the time I just stick to a bow w/glass arrows.

2. Illusion, Mysticism, Alteration will be your best friends; you get all the good stuff like invisibility, sound, chameleon, unlock, lock, levitation, teleportation, and telekenisis, all vital to thief-archetypes.

3. I'd STRONGLY recommend against it; those two skills are obscenely easy to level even as Miscellaneous skills and require nothing beyond running and jumping, so you'd be leveling like a madman. It'll take away a lot from the epic, sweeping feel of the game, and the temptation to just jump around towns and off roofs to gain points will be far too great to resist. Another downside to fast leveling is that the game generates monsters based on your level; so if your Level 10 thief doesn't have the potions to fight back a Blighted Kagouti, you're all but doomed.

4. If you plan on using it often, put it as a minor skill, not major; in my experience, repairing even the highest-end equipment by a professional smith doesn't put much of a dent in your pocketbook, so if you can think of something more useful, put that in instead.

5. Already answered, but yep; they're fairly common.

Hope I helped.

You go to an enchanter to make the Amulet of Levitation (Bring a soul stone) and lock is usefull for when you are in trouble with the law and are in a building (Lock those Ordinators in a coat closet and the like)

Lock spells

Another good use of the lock spell is in security practice. Cast a low level lock spell on a door and pick it with lockpicks. This will get your security spell up to decent levels pretty quickly. I personally don't use this "cheat"
but I might if I wasn't an Alteration specialist. I just cast a level 100 open spell. I have one that is set to open everything in a 10' radius
