If i install a plugin, will it screw up my game?
Take the zoo one. I wanted to try it out because it sounds kinda cool, but if i install it will it alter any of the rest of the game? Also, will i be able to get rid of it and play like it was before the plugin without losing my saves?
thanks. |

ya, plugin changes the game and it can screw it up if the creator of the plug-in deleted or changed charchters vital for the gameplay. Also some plugins are considered as cheats so if you dont want to cheat dont install plugin. Me myself only installed Zed plugin, a trader in Balmora who can buy all of your items.
But you can delete the plugin any time. How the name says, its a "Plug - In", it will add stuff, delete some too but it will not change the main morrowind file so when you delete it everything will be back to normal |

Not necessarily true. If the plugin somehow effected your save games (through new journal entries, new items,...) then removing the plugin will have undefined and possibly undesired effects. After all, your game will attempt to load someting that doesn't exist... in other words, it will attempt to do something horribly bad as far as the rest of your computer is concerned. It may recover from it just fine, or it may crash Morrowing in the most horrible way. If I were you, I would either, start a new game with a plugin and leave my old character alone without the plugin. Or make sure I had a good save game before I installed the plugin. Or if you feel more technically proficient, open the plugin in the editor and check it out. See what was added and what was modified. Make sure those things don't effect your savegames. _________________ (@) |

The main effect of reverting to the main .esm file that I have discovered, is that you will lose all the stuff that you picked up, that was created in the plugin.
You will get a lot of error messages at start up. They will go away after you save.
So if you want to keep using that ring of super power that someone created in their plugin you are out of luck.
I have read that you can edit your save games by renaming them as .esm files and opening them in the editor, haven't tried that.
